We’re looking for a full-time UX Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate would be in the Chicago area and available to work at our casual Ravenswood office. This person should be comfortable working as a part of a small team that collaboratively handles strategy, design, and development. We work 9ish to 5ish and offer exceptional work/life balance.

Our current development process takes cues from the Agile methodologies that have been sweeping the software engineering world. Our sprints typically last three weeks, and your responsibilities during them most likely would be:

01 Advocate for the user journey: Your role is to sit in the middle of technology, strategy, research, and design and bring those together to create something that people love.

02 Understand what is feasible and what is possible. There are lots of solutions, and we’re interested in what works best. Your job will be to find that best solution that works for the team.

03 Craft innovative user experience design. Balance between design research and design intuition to explore and implement desired user experience solutions.

04 Bring new ideas: Be a champion for what works, and what is happening in the world. We’re not usually the first to jump on a trend, unless it’s something that really works. We’ll depend on you to keep up to speed on what is happening and what is truly valuable.

Key Responsibilities and Criteria:

  • Meet with clients, researchers, and developers to lead conversations on the direction of user experience design. 
  • Adopt methods for effectively listening and capturing user criteria and translate them into insightful analysis that will inform experience design direction. 
  • Collaborate with design research team to recommend and lead methods for user experience research. 
  • Synthesize data and insights into meaningful narratives. 
  • Collaborate with the team to draft project plans 
  • Plan and research usability and function for interactive projects 
  • Design and annotate wireframes for various devices and monitor sizes 
  • Develop and design project style guides 
  • Help develop user experience guidelines and requirements for all interactive projects and ensure their consideration in design and development 
  • Design and craft prototypes for testing 
  • Evaluate and craft a person’s experience in the work we do 
  • Lead clients in discussions about best practices in design 
  • Write about process, technology, trends, and ideas 
  • Explore new options, trends, and usability methods for projects 
  • Test and evaluate prototypes and finished products 
  • Research and experiment with new technology and usability theory that will advance future projects 
  • Contribute to the mission of LimeRed Studio by participating in activities, lead public discussions, workshops and writing relevant blog posts for our audiences

Competencies and Values:

  • 3+ years in web design, user interface, or experience design
