This position will develop and execute strategic cross-channel marketing campaigns through print, social media, website and emails to generate awareness of Girl Scouts of Southeast Wisconsin and the impact of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience for girls and their communities; engage prospective members, current members and alumnae in meaningful conversations; cultivate new communities; and manage branded online communities on behalf of GSWISE. The Campaign and Content Coordinator will create relevant local content to increase engagement of community members, develop and track appropriate metrics on all platforms, and meticulously monitor the social environment for conversations. He/she will also serve as an ambassador throughout the organization to embed a social and digital mentality in our culture while maintaining and advising on GSWISE Brand standards.  

Temporary position from - March 1, 2018 - June 2018

Major Accountabilities:

  • Develop, implement and project manage creative, innovative, and varied marketing campaigns using social, email communications, website, print, etc. 
  • Manage the content generation, placement and delivery on gswise.org and other sites which might be developed by GSWISE. Proactively researches story and video opportunities, collects testimonials, interviews stakeholders and writes content to deliver GS Brand voice and drive engagement through a variety of platforms (web, email, social, digital, print). 
  • Create, maintain and deliver an up-to-date monthly social marketing plan which complements the overall marketing plan for GSWISE. 
  • Raise brand awareness and protect brand equity by executing a social marketing campaign using the most appropriate social media channels reaching donors, volunteers and/or members. 
  • Develops email newsletter content and design for council with appropriate messaging tailored to a variety of audiences (donors, members, volunteers, GSWISE Board of Directors, staff). 
  • Establish relationships with the online community by identifying key influencers and communities that fit our online strategy. 
  • Monitor, review, and report on all marketing activity, impact and results (Open rates, click-thru rates, web analytics, etc.) 
  • Serve as an organization-wide resource to provide expertise for appropriate new media solutions, reporting and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with all functional areas of the council to develop campaigns, including local content generation and delivery that support and achieve the council’s membership, fund development and other goals. 
  • Develop communications and marketing materials (PowerPoint presentations, blogs, stories, articles, videos, etc.) that effectively attract and engage all target audiences. 
  • Identify, evaluate, select and monitor the most relevant social media channels. 
  • Identify, document and deliver social media best practices, delivery and analytics. 
  • Assess online reputation management. 
  • With the Campaign and Content Manager and Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, maintain and update the social media, email and web site policy and guidelines. 
  • Assist in creating a social media training program and education for all employees. 
  • Manage online discussions by listening and responding to users in a timely and authentic manner. 
  • Ensure consistent messaging is used across cross-functional departments and multiple contributors. 
  • Fully embrace and utilize social media to maximize the reach and mission of GSWISE.
  • Ensures that diversity and pluralism is embraced and incorporated into the work of the council.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related degree or 2 years in internet marketing, email marketing, internet media placement, marketing analysis or website management (Intranet and/or Internet) experience. Desirable past business experience includes: social marketing, search engine marketing, internet agency or internet project management, marketing project management. 
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple, disparate streams of work in a challenging, dynamic environment. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms, including current (YouTube, StumbleUpon, Delicious, Digg, Reddit, Flickr, Forums, Twitter, Wikis, Facebook, Snapchat,Instagram, LinkedIn, blogs, etc.) and emerging channels to cultivate online communities. 
  • Able to meet deadlines and think proactively and innovatively. 
  • Excellent written (including copy writing and editing) and oral communication skills and polished presentation and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong customer orientation and grasp of marketing fundamentals 
  • Proven experience working with cross-functional teams. 
  • Proficient in conducting interviews and gathering content from subject matter experts (i.e. Girls, leaders, volunteers, community partners, researchers). 
  • Demonstrated background in editorial and technical content development with the ability to craft content to web appropriate format. 
  • Proficient with MS Office. 
  • Working knowledge of technology involved to create podcasts, videos, and using tools to record, edit, and publish. 
  • Proficient in content management and the use of content management systems, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud. 
  • Functional knowledge of HTML/CSS and SEO. 
  • Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout Program and enroll as a Girl Scout member. 
  • Has daily access to dependable transportation, valid driver’s license, compliance with the council’s policy of automobile insurance limits, and a driving record that meets the requirements for coverage of the council’s business auto insurance carrier. 
  • The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods of time, occasionally required to stand for long periods, and operate office equipment manually. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
