Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) seeks a part-time special events intern to assist with producing our annual summer gala, Cheers to Chamber, as well as other event-related tasks throughout the season. This position reports to Milwaukee Chamber Theatre’s managing director. Position is 10-12 hours per week, largely within regular business hours.

Milwaukee Chamber Theatre will host its annual fundraising gala, Cheers to Chamber, after the conclusion of its performance season, on May 31, 2018. The special events intern will be responsible for assisting MCT staff and board members in managing the logistical details of this event, and soliciting donations for the live and silent auctions. In addition, this intern will provide support for other events throughout the spring, including board-led “friendraisers,” our annual donor brunch and pre-performance receptions for theatre patrons.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining a spreadsheet of auction donations, and helping to organize items into live, silent and specialty auction packages
  • Contacting local businesses to request items for auctions 
  • Adhering to a gala timeline and supporting committee members in completing their assignments on schedule 
  • Coordinating promotional print and digital mailings for the gala and other events 
  • Working with MCT marketing staff to develop and proofread event literature 
  • Sending invites and tracking RSVPs for spring events 
  • Serving on the MCT Board’s Special Events Committee 
  • Assisting with setup for the gala on May 31, at the Woman’s Club of Wisconsin
  • Occasionally assisting with development tasks such as logging donations and generating correspondence

This position is ideal for a student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in events management, arts administration, or fundraising, or a recent graduate seeking experience in those fields. Candidates should be extremely self-motivated, and possess excellent interpersonal/writing skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in database management software like MS Excel and/or Google Spreadsheets.

Internships are unpaid but can be used for school credit. Interns will also be given complimentary tickets to our productions and invitations to attend other MCT events.
