Nelson Schmidt is seeking a well-organized and motivated intern for its Madison office to be part of its public relations team. We offer a friendly environment, great clients and the ability to gain hands-on public relations work experience. This is a paid, part-time internship.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Updating and helping maintain the media library, social media sites, media lists and editorial calendars – experience working with Cision, HootSuite, Buffer or other PR/social media software is a plus.
  • Collaborating on digital and print content development.
  • Tracking media hits and compiling monthly client reports.
  • Maintaining public relations calendars.
  • Monitoring media and blogs for client and industry trends.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills preferred.
  • Administrative duties, as needed.

Key Requirements Include:

  • Junior status or above working towards a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Journalism.
  • Project coordination, management skills and strategic thinker.
  • Organization, prioritization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Basic knowledge of social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in written format.
  • Strong writing, editing and research skills.
  • Knowledge of AP writing style is a plus.

This is a paid, part-time internship.
