PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Public relations program management
- Assist in the management and execution of all aspects of public relations campaigns associated with corporate reputation and key initiatives, including strategy and collateral development (press releases, media Q&A, media training, etc.). Ensure new opportunities are researched, identified and leveraged. Track programs as appropriate.
- Assist with crisis communications, including taking preventative measures to protect the company’s reputation (i.e. developing contingency plans, conducting audits on societal and political issues, managing reputation agency partners, etc.)
- Manage budgets for specific programs, where appropriate.
- Develop and execute strong programs with multiple partner(s). Ensure new opportunities are identified and leveraged. Track programs as appropriate.
- Facilitate communication and planning with outside and internal business partners as necessary to develop and execute fully integrated plans and ensure holistic strategies that support marketing platform and company initiatives, and corporate image. This includes the monitoring of timing and action plans to ensure milestones are successfully reached and deliverables are successfully executed.
- Identify opportunities for program integration and synergy in and among Kohl's existing programs. Develop strategies to build program exposure internally and externally.
- Work with partners throughout the year to facilitate approval of collateral materials as related to specific programs.
Manage public relations contact with the media
- Create collateral (such as news releases, talking points and press kits) for various programs and events.
- Field media calls and coordinate media responses within the company from various departments and executives.
- Develop strong media contacts and regularly pitch local and regional media regarding relevant, approved Kohl's topics.
- Work with various departments to ensure consistency and agreement regarding statements on Kohl's behalf.
- Support crisis planning and response to include monitoring, reporting and media relations.
