Provide assistance to the Instruction and Curriculum Department substantially and effectively in the task of providing leadership in developing, achieving, and maintaining the best educational programs and services.

Essential Functions:

1. Acts as a point of contact between top management and employees or other stakeholders.

2. Provides assistance and guidance to projects of high importance.

3. Composes and is responsible for correspondence, sometimes dealing with issues and subject matter in ways that require considerable sensitivity, discretion, judgment, or negotiation in replying to inquiries, and/or presenting or requesting information.

4. Prepares and contributes to the preparation of reports, briefings, presentations and responses on strategic issues as appropriate.

5. Directs all facets of the daily operations of the Instruction and Curriculum Department to ensure compliance with board policies and regulations and local, state and federal laws and regulations.

6. Participates with the Instruction and Curriculum Department and other senior staff in strategic planning, policy development and problem resolution of complex issues and needs.

7. Attends Board of Education meetings, and attends and presides over such other meetings as directed by the Instruction and Curriculum Department.

8. Analyzes and manages sensitive issues that arise frequently in the rapidly changing environment of the Instruction and Curriculum Department where improper handling may have serious consequences for the school district.

9. Provides communication and support to the Instruction and Curriculum Department to ensure the district’s strategy, objectives and performance are effectively communicated to external and internal audiences.

10. Project Manager assists with matters related to policy development, with exceptional analytical communication skills.

11. Continuously updates professional knowledge by reading professional journals and research papers; attending seminars, conferences and workshops.

12. Prepares and contributes to the preparation of reports, briefings, presentations and responses on strategic issues as appropriate.

13. Coordinates and maintains Instruction and Curriculum Department meetings.

14. Performs administrative functions for Instruction and Curriculum Department, i.e. correspondence, schedule meetings, process telephone calls, etc.

15. Process purchase requisitions/stock orders. 16.Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Instruction and Curriculum.

Formal Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in education, communications, journalism, marketing or related field and three to five years of relevant experience (or other equivalent combination) is required. Qualified candidates must have: excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; the ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide range of staff and constituencies; the ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

2. Ability to work well with interruptions, projects a positive image, and maintains a professional attitude.

3. Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.

4. Ability to work independently and accurately with a minimum of supervision.

5. Ability to frequently interact with the public, district staff, and Board of Education members in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality.

6. Must be able to work non-work hours as needed.

7. Ability to assess and assign detailed project work a must.

8. Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the multi-faceted demands of this department.

9. Must be willing and able to keep abreast of the latest technology as required in this position.

10. Must have good attendance.

Compensation Range: $21.18 - $28.60 /hr.
