The Project Coordinator/Copywriter is responsible for the intake of marketing/design projects; meeting with internal RVC clients as needed to determine hierarchy of messages and to correlate mediums for production; writing copy for various projects including web content; coordinating project designs with Manager of Creative Services; proofreading of materials, as well as ensuring consistency of the College’s brand and messages across multiple communications channels, including coordination with College Communications staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Related duties may be assigned.

  1. Serve as project intake coordinator of marketing/design projects. 
  2. Meet with internal RVC partners as needed to determine target audience, type of marketing materials needed to reach audience, develop message hierarchy (primary and secondary messages and call to action), and approach for each project/event. 
  3. Engage RVC partners with an attitude of willingness and dedication to serve and keep customers informed of project status. 
  4. Coordinate flow of information and communication and disseminate it according to marketing plan, strategy, and protocol. 
  5. Follow best practices and use a checklist to ensure that copy is formatted according to department style guide and check questionable details/information. 
  6. Proofread marketing materials.
  7. Plan, organize, and prioritize marketing projects; update calendars, and create reports to share with marketing department on a regular basis. 
  8. Manage multiple projects for delivery in a timely manner and within budget. Manage tight deadlines and unexpected changes. 
  9. Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. 
  10. Work with Manager of Creative Services to improve systems for project management. 
  11. Master RVC project management system (in anticipation of new system) in order to better input and track workflow. 
  12. Maintain/reinforce College brand, quality, style and/or formats. 
  13. Develop ad copy to strengthen marketing message of College and its departments/partners. 
  14. Copyedit and proofread web content. 
  15. Assist in the creation, development and management of content for the College’s web presence. 
  16. Attain and maintain knowledge of marketing principles in order to communicate a hierarchy of messages effectively. 
  17. Collaborate with Manager of Creative Services to develop concepts and content for a variety of marketing projects. 
  18. Keep current with emerging web technologies through relevant blogs, websites, periodicals, and events. 
  19. Regular attendance is expected. 
  20. Using tact and courtesy, the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with persons contacted in the course of work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Technical Writing or a related field and at least 5-7 years of experience are required. 
  • Must possess proficiency with Microsoft Office and exceptional communication and organizational skills. 
  • Candidate must be able to manage multiple projects and possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Experience with website content management systems desired. 
  • Some graphic design experience with proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat desired. 
  • Photography and videography experience also desired.
