GLHF is seeking 1-2 interns to support the fund development team with Graphic Design/Public Relations and Special Events Coordination. We will consider a single Intern to fulfill both roles, or may hire two individuals.

Graphic Design/PR intern will develop/design brochures, flyers, solicitation and marketing collateral; conduct interviews, gather information, develop news releases/special interest stories about our clients and/or special events, GLHF or bleeding disorders in general; assist with administrative duties; will attend GLHF spring special events.

The Special Event intern will involve assisting in preparations for Milwaukee's Best Bloody (February) and our new event Madison’s Best Bloody (April). Tasks will include coordinating and soliciting raffle items, recruiting and managing participation restaurants, working with volunteers, and assisting with event logistics and planning; assist the day of events.

At least two years of college.

Graphic Design/PR position:

  • Excellent graphic design and writing and skills (please provide samples of each). 
  • Ability to work individually and as a team member. 
  • Expertise with Microsoft products as well as InDesign and Photoshop.

Special Events Coordination role:

  • Basic office and computer skills. 
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel; familiar with database programs a plus, but not required. 
  • Familiar with Adobe InDesign and/or Photoshop desired, but not required. 
  • Excellent phone presence. 
  • Ability to cold-call effectively. 
  • Detail oriented.

Each role will require 8-10 hours per week, with flexibility around exam time, vacation time, etc. This is a paid internship. We are looking for a commitment of the spring semester.

Office location: BloodCenter building N. 18th St. and W. Wisconsin Ave.

Office hours: M-F, 8:30a - 4:30p.
