Position overview:

Advances the work of the firm and its consultants through the development, management, and delivery of strategic marketing communications. Responsibilities include conceptualizing, implementing and managing marketing efforts that communicate the firm’s differentiated position and help drive business generation, including a broad range of marketing strategies and tactics, creative editorial and design services, and client-facing communications. Works in partnership with colleagues and outside agencies to ensure publications, collateral, announcements, and other communications are consistent with the firm’s goals and marketing communications strategy. The successful candidate for this position will be a self-starter with strong project management and digital skills.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Writes, edits, and designs client-facing marketing collateral, print and digital, and partners with outside agencies on the same activities 
  • Writes, edits, formats, and sends electronic newsletters and announcements to clients through the CRM 
  • Partners with the firm’s consultants to plan and execute mini-marketing campaigns to help promote new products and services 
  • Collaborates with the firm’s consultants to conceive, write, and edit their LinkedIn and Twitter posts to demonstrate thought leadership and raise awareness of the firm’s services 
  • Develops compelling case studies for use in marketing collateral, web presence, and advertising 
  • Crafts thought leadership pieces in concert with the firm’s consultants regarding key issues in the field of philanthropy 
  • Manages the firm’s overall industry conference strategy, including identifying key events and speaking engagements, improving booth presence, and developing targeted email campaigns to attendees and potential attendees 
  • Oversees the strategic placement and development of ads for industry-specific publications 
  • Helps the proposal team write material that represents firm-wide initiatives and messaging 
  • Contributes to the overall growth-targets of the firm.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of progressive responsibility in a similar role, 3-5 years being a manager
  • Demonstrated record of creating marketing communications strategies and tactics that advance business objectives 
  • Thorough experience developing and delivering marketing communications in web, digital, social, and print channels 
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field 
  • Interest in or knowledge of non-profit organizations and consulting 
  • Proven project management skills

Additional preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field 
  • Work experience in non-profit organization a plus

Reporting structure and relationships:

Reports to the firm’s Executive Leadership Team. Key relationships are with fellow team members, who are responsible for the firm’s marketing communications, business development, and client relations. The Marketing Manager also will establish and maintain strong working relationships with Practice Area Leaders, other consultants, and firm leaders, among others.
