Chicagoland Lutheran Educational Foundation (CLEF) is a nonprofit school foundation that supports Lutheran preschool, elementary and high schools in the City of Chicago. We provide funding for many school needs including scholarships, capital improvements, technology, and teacher salaries. Our services include educational consulting, teacher professional development and coaching, marketing assistance, special education, and school nursing.

Position Details:

This is a full-time salaried position. Work will be performed in our Bensenville office, with occasional travel to school locations. The Marketing Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.

Performance Description:

This position will fulfill a dual role, with primary initial responsibility to increase the visibility of CLEF. The position will also work with or on behalf of CLEF schools to promote the schools, with the ultimate goal of increasing enrollment. Frequent communication with CLEF schools is expected.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and execute media plan for email communications via Constant Contact and/or website blog 
  • Develop and execute media plan for print communications (newsletters, appeals, Christmas card mailing, brochures, etc.) 
  • Facilitate redesign of CLEF website and maintain content 
  • Market CLEF and school activities through social media and press releases. 
  • Prepare monthly CLEF notes newsletter for board. 
  • Promote CLEF within CLEF schools and congregations. Serve as spokesperson for CLEF to civic and community groups and principal's meetings. Appear at back to school nights, open houses, etc. Speak at congregational meetings. Invite other congregations to support CLEF monetarily, through school supply drives, etc. 
  • Create needs assessments for each school, identifying skills and knowledge that need to be addressed and choosing appropriate training methods on a case by case basis. 
  • Develop and coordinate implementation of marketing strategies based on each school’s unique profile. 
  • Provide mentorship to admissions counselors in multiple private school settings throughout Chicagoland, each with unique and specific needs.

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Minimum three years’ experience in marketing and social media. Nonprofit experience a plus. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of media, public, and community relations; 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; 
  • The right candidate will be able to juggle competing priorities, excel at organization skills, and have a high attention to detail and follow-through. 
  • Proficient in computer usage including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, Google Calendar and Constant Contact. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse populations including donors, School Board members, administrators, teachers and all support staff; 
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to proactively identify resources and resolve problems. 
  • Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor and evaluate new and/or current programs; 
  • Prior experience in admissions counseling, as well as a teaching or training background, with heavy emphasis on increasing school enrollment a plus. 
  • Prior experience working with admissions/tuition management software a plus. 
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to CLEF’s mission of supporting quality Christian education.
