Led by Artistic Director Mark Clements and Managing Director Chad Bauman, Milwaukee Repertory Theater produces an 11-play season that spans three performance venues, as well as A Christmas Carol, a beloved holiday tradition for over three decades, in the adjacent Pabst Theater. The Rep produces over 600 performances annually of new and contemporary work, classics, and musical theater pieces plus a short-play festival showcasing its emerging professional residents, which is one of the oldest and most respected Emerging Professional Residency programs in regional theater.

The Rep’s Marketing department is offering administrative internships for upper level college students and recent graduates who are pursuing careers in professional theater, marketing, public relations or non-profit administration. Interns have the opportunity to work directly with the Marketing, Public Relations and Social Media teams, as well as other departments throughout the company. Interns will learn the various strategies and tactics needed for successful marketing, press and social media campaigns at a major regional theater company. Interns work directly with the Marketing Team, assisting with special projects and day-to-day activities that support The Rep. Summer, semester-long or full season positions are available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Researching new media contacts to expand current media database
  • Maintain clipping files and archiving
  • Proof reading show programs, press releases, print and electronic materials
  • Updating and maintaining calendar event listing and posting press releases online
  • Assist in planning and staffing PR appearances Writing articles, blogs, social media posts when appropriate
  • Research potential partners for cross promotion and ways to connect with relevant communities
  • Create and update various marketing contact databases and other data entry projects
  • Distribution of printed materials
  • Assist in planning and staffing Audience Development events
  • Opportunities for additional projects based on interest and experience
  • General office support
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned
  • Interest in arts administration, particularly marketing and public relations
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • A self-starter with attention to detailand ability to multi-task
  • Sense of humor and ability to brainstorm out of the box ideas
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint 
  • Experience with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube

This is an unpaid internship position that can be used for college credit if requested. Interns will receive complimentary tickets to Rep productions throughout the duration of the internship.
