WorldChicago seeks a full-time dynamic self-starter who is enthusiastic about fundraising and promoting citizen diplomacy and cultural exchange. The Marketing & Development Manager’s primary responsibilities include communicating WorldChicago’s mission and programs to diverse audiences, overseeing donor prospecting and engagement, and planning fundraisers and community events.

Responsibilities:

Outreach & Communication

  • Write and design weekly newsletters and e-blasts; 
  • Maintain distribution list Develop and manage WorldChicago’s social media strategy for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram 
  • Lead public relations initiatives, write press releases, and cultivate media relationships 
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Fundraising and Marketing board committee 
  • Develop appropriate giving materials and a digital presence

Event Planning

  • Coordinate, promote, and execute all of WorldChicago’s fundraising events, including the Spring Diplomacy Luncheon and Fall Cultural Fundraiser 
  • Work with the President and Fundraising & Marketing board to develop the theme, location, and funding goals for events 
  • Develop logos, invitations, signage, and other event marketing pieces 
  • Lead Young Professionals Committee, guiding the planning and promotion of Young Professional events 
  • Coordinate live, silent, and online auctions; 
  • Procure auction item donations 
  • Generate and mail thank you letters for all sponsors, speakers, and donors

Fundraising

  • Recommend the annual fundraising goal providing supporting details to the President and Marketing and Fundraising Committee 
  • Monitor fundraising progress and report results with recommendations quarterly to the Marketing and Fundraising Committee. 
  • Work to develop a long-term donor engagement strategy that includes diverse funding sources
  • Research and prepare foundation and corporate grant proposals 
  • Develop membership and individual giving campaigns 
  • Assist the Board of Directors in fulfilling their funding goals 
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations & IT to manage all giving through the Blackbaud eTapestry system

Programming

  • Assist with programming, as needed, for international delegations 
  • Serve as a liaison to the programming team for the recruitment of homestay and hospitality hosts 
  • Assist in other WorldChicago projects and programs, as needed.

WorldChicago seeks candidates with:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, development, or related field 
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, self-motivation, and comfort working in a small team 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 
  • Experience with WordPress (or other CMS) and Constant Contact (or other email marketing software) 
  • Demonstrated interest in international affairs 
  • Design and photography skills a plus
