Responsible for planning, design, construction oversight, and inspection of parks and related facilities such as golf courses, playgrounds, comfort stations, trails, dog exercise areas, sports courts/fields, and similar amenities to ensure compliance with comprehensive and master plans and Department strategies; preserve and enhance department assets; ensure quality service and product delivery.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and construction of parks and facilities; prepare plans, drawings, specifications & estimates; define scopes, design parameters; obtain technical data, perform research; evaluate land dedications, conveyances; assist in capital and long-range plans.
  • Review contract bids, assist in contractor selection, oversee contractor work to ensure compliance with approved design, standards; collaborate with other divisions; serve as project lead.
  • Coordinate bid processes, issue notifications to begin work, approve partial payments, and perform project closeout; prepare narratives, statistical & legislative reports, permits, grants, easements, and exhibits; attend and lead public hearings and informational meetings.
  • Participate on special project teams; community outreach efforts; marketing and communication efforts; and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture and five (5) years of experience in landscape architecture. 
  • Registered Landscape Architect in the State of Wisconsin.

Preferred:

  • GIS experience preferred
  • Construction management experience preferred
  • CPSI certification preferred

Pay Range: $28.53 - $36.29
