Our competitive intern program is a robust experience that offers interns exposure to the business world and a meaningful work experience. Interns are treated as valuable team members while learning from experienced professionals in a collaborative, fun, and dynamic environment.

Baird’s summer program activities include an Intern Welcome Event in our corporate office in Milwaukee, multiple Lunch & Learns, a Brewer’s game at Miller Park, Baird Night at the Zoo, and many other informal events. Our interns have the opportunity to use a Baird Cares Day and be compensated to volunteer in the community. They are also eligible to apply for $8,000 in scholarships. Our informal mentor program gives interns an opportunity to network throughout Baird and learn about all the areas of the firm. To learn more, check out this video.

Under the direction of a senior designer, the design intern performs a variety of projects including print and web-based work.

Part-time during the school semester: 15–24 hours per week. Full-time during the summer: 30–37.5 hours per week.

Starting late May.

WHAT WILL I DO?

  • Involvement in various phases of a project including: print and digital production, concept brainstorming, photo shoots, and design and team meetings.
  • Contribute to print-based design projects: primarily artwork changes and revisions, layout and design.
  • Interprets brand guidelines and embodies a consistent visual brand representation for Baird within design.
  • Prepares appropriate files for vendors. Assists on web-based project needs as necessary.
  • Photographs various Baird events, parties, meetings and scenarios 
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?

  • Pursuing a degree in Art, Graphic Design, or Visual Communications. Sophomore, Junior or Senior year standing preferred.
  • Advanced software proficiency required in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop in a Mac environment.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint and Word. Familiarity with a DSLR camera a plus.
  • Solid portfolio of work demonstrating skills above.
  • Position requires attention to detail and sound design and typographical skills.
  • Positive attitude, organizational skills, reliability and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic.

This is a paid internship.
