Brookfield Academy, a private, independent, college preparatory day school, is seeking a Graphic Designer (4-5 days a week).

Graphics Designer - Marketing Department.

The ideal candidate will have experience and demonstrated success in the advanced use of the Adobe Creative Suite programs, including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, a minimum of five – seven years of experience, and an associate degree or Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design.

Ideal candidates must know how to set up documents (multiple page and single page), be comfortable with process and spot color palettes, linking graphics, choosing proper typography and manipulating it within acceptable typesetting standards. The use of master pages and style sheets must be familiar to the designer.

Adobe Illustrator skills include designing graphics for events and publications, choosing colors, strokes and gradients, and the ability to work with purchased logos on occasion for the production of posters and t-shirts.

Adobe Photoshop is used primarily for enhancing photos and creating graphics for posters, flyers, postcards, and publications.

The graphic designer must be comfortable dealing with print vendors, magazines, social media outlets, etc., when sending projects in the proper format for production purposes. This requires advanced familiarity with Adobe Acrobat. Packaging job files in InDesign will often be required when sending/sharing native files. The designer will be called upon to create fillable forms in Acrobat.

Advanced understanding of print production and social media is important to the graphic design position. Requesting quotes from printers and reviewing proofs is critical part of the designer’s responsibilities.

Ideal Candidates must be able to proactively manage multiple projects on a daily basis. Proofreading is a crucial skill, as is the ability to create and manage files and information on the school’s website using the content management system.

Ideal Candidates will have the ability to take photographs for school publications, website, and Facebook; help to coordinate professional photo sessions with outside photographers as directed. Assist with short videos for Facebook as needed. Post items to website and Facebook as directed.
