Summary:

Under the supervision of the Development & Communications Director, this position requires a strategic-thinking, detail-oriented professional who can manage and lead a robust grants program with $750,000 in funded grant proposals and related reports. This position is responsible for researching, identifying, developing, and responding to public and private grant opportunities to support the work of Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation, corporate, and community sources. 
  • Perform prospect research to evaluate prospects for corporate, foundation, government, and community grants. 
  • Be the primary contact with all funders in order to facilitate proposals, site visits, reports, and all other funding related items. 
  • Works with supervisor to present options to program staff for aligning mission-driven projects with funders' guidelines. 
  • Work with program, financial, and administrative staff to gather information necessary to complete proposals and reports for funders on current and future grant opportunities. 
  • Comply with all grant requirements as required by funders, including all reporting and follow-up requests. 
  • Provide stewardship to current funders, including work with Development & Communications Director to provide regular written updates (annual reports, newsletters, etc.) to grantors as appropriate. 
  • Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting. 
  • Respond to requests for information and updates as it relates to Board of Directors or committee reporting and financial forecasting. 
  • Work with other development staff to connect funders to the organization (i.e., volunteer projects, etc.). 
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.

Education:

  • High school degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience developing proposals and reports for institutional funders, including government entities. 
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments is a must. 
  • Experience managing a robust grants program is strongly preferred.

Abilities:

  • Able to meet deadlines, manage workload, and handle multiple assignments simultaneously. 
  • Has the ability to monitor and meet revenue goals, and work in a team environment.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of all components of proposals and reports for institutional and government funders. 
  • Familiarity with the major local, regional, and national funders and their processes. 
  • Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for prospect research.

Skills:

  • Exceptional written communication skills including the ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals. 
  • Attention to detail and strong editing skills. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to learn new skills and acquire knowledge in the areas related to the work of Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery.
