We have an opportunity for a Freelance PR Strategist for a 6-12 month engagement starting in early September with a commitment of 12-15 hours per week / 50-60 hours per month.

The Public Relations (PR) Strategist is responsible for the execution of strategic public relations initiatives, including developing and coordinating all public relations activities, developing communications plan and developing a media relations strategy to seek out high-profile and relevant placements in print and online.

The position requires gaining a strong understanding of current trends of the automotive/marine/power sports industry, with an emphasis on high-performance batteries. The position ensures our PR content is fully integrated with other marketing and operational efforts across the brand, specifically collaborating with the social media team.

The PR Strategist will evaluate the necessary media channels to educate and engage consumers about our clients’ products, events and brands to help drive advocacy and awareness. The Strategist will also develop creative ways to leverage public relations to reach and influence the various customers and partners who are vital to our success.

  • Develop a communications plan including strategy, goals and tactics
  • Develop media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media
  • Coordinate all public relations activities
  • Collaborate with social media team to engage audiences across traditional and new media
  • Liaise with internal resources, including client consulting, strategy and social media teams
  • Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within business and industry media
  • Manage media inquiries and interview requests
  • Create content for press releases and byline articles
  • Monitor, analyze and communicate PR results on a quarterly basis
  • Recommend opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising on an on-going basis
  • Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting clients and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field
  • Minimum of 7-10 years public relations experience
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Proven working experience in public relations required
  • Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns and strategies at both a local and national level
  • Strong relationships with national business and industry media outlets
  • Experienced marketer with proven expertise developing and implementing strategic plans
