The Director of Marketing will develop, manage, implement, and evaluate marketing strategies that position the Orchestra to meet or exceed attendance and ticket revenue goals. The Director will maximize the visibility and relevance of the Minnesota Orchestra in our community through innovative marketing strategies. The Director will serve as a member of the management team which establishes institutional policies, practices, goals and vision.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Develop comprehensive marketing strategies for single and subscription ticket sales. 
  • Manage the development and execution of single ticket and subscription marketing plans and objectives. 
  • Supervise all media placement and direct development of all ticket promotions. 
  • Work collaboratively with other department directors, the President and Music Director to develop the creative platform of the Orchestra. 
  • Direct and manage execution of marketing research activities. 
  • Develop and monitor marketing work plans for all concerts and events. 
  • Manage development of website subscription and single tickets strategies and online ticket sales. 
  • Supervise all website design, content and maintenance. 
  • Develop ticket expense budget and revenue goals for all concerts. 
  • Manage day-to-day maintenance of the full department budget. 
  • Monitor ticket revenue and attendance projections to assure that strategic plan objectives are met. 
  • Reports on ticket sales for all concert series. 
  • Develop expense and revenue strategies for the department. 
  • Direct the development and implementation of pricing strategies and scaling. 
  • Manage all marketing staff. 
  • Establish department and individual employee goals. 
  • Manage the performance of employees by setting clear expectations, monitoring and evaluating performance, and managing the department salary increase budget. 
  • Attend Board of Director meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree (undergraduate or graduate) in Marketing, Business or related field.
  • Seven to ten years marketing experience in an arts organization.
  • Proven work experience in supervising employees.
  • Proven work experience in budget preparation and analysis. Understanding of classical music.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to use computer hardware, including keyboard and mouse.
