We currently have a great opportunity available for a Brand Content & Engagement Strategy Director. The Director of Brand Content and Engagement Strategy will be a functional leader navigating the team responsible for visual and written brand representation, creative interpretation and design, scientific writing, and regulatory approval process to create a seamless execution of the brand across all customer touch-points such as brochures, ads, digital media, email, white papers, trade show materials, etc. in the medical device space. This Director will demonstrate exceptional vision, oversee projects from initiation to completion, and ensure successful project outcomes to increase brand value. Must have proven track record of leading large multi-functional creative teams with an illustrative portfolio of past work. This role will oversee and approve final creative output and navigate through approval process working hand in hand with product marketers, scientific marketers, marketing communication colleagues and regulatory ambassadors. This Director shall be able to balance the production of innovative, meaningful, and strategically grounded creative content while handling the day-to-day business tactics integral to this position to achieve concrete business results. Beyond functional expertise, this role will bring superior leadership and a true sense of team while driving collaboration across our expanding organization. This position reports to the Senior Director, Marketing Communications & Commercial Operations Training & Development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Working with company leadership, Sr. Director of Marketing Communications & Commercial Operations Training & Development, and marketing teams to define and document the strategy for the overall business goals. 
  2. Must live in the Chicagoland area and work from the Lincolnshire, IL corporate headquarters office. 
  3. Set the standards of communication arts excellence and provide the management and leadership to the creative services group to achieve them. 
  4. Responsible for translating the marketing objectives into creative strategies, designs and the annual creative plan that supports the marketing plan. 
  5. Responsible for the overall brand strategy and management for the Sysmex brand and to develop and manage an integrated and consistent brand look-and-feel across all market channels including print (brochures, ads), digital (web, emails, mobile, social, app), PR, and Corporate initiatives . 
  6. Design, develop, and execute the creative components of the go-to-market strategy. 
  7. Manage external advertising and other creative services agencies. 
  8. Establish, develop, and maintain creative, conceptual and writing standards as well as design parameters and stylistic guidelines for the brand. 
  9. Participate in cross functional and cross organizational teams to create brand cohesiveness.
  10. Manage budgets and timelines accordingly.

Physical Risk:

Regular exposure to risk that may require alertness, but with minimal precautions.

Physical Demands:

Light physical effort. Routine handling of objects up to 20 pounds; prolonged (at least 50% of time) sitting, standing, keyboard or CRT work. May require periods of moderate discomfort due to noise, dust, lighting and/or other conditions.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office. 
  • Proficient to Expert with design programs of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop) with emphasis in InDesign (Quark experience considered). 
  • Ability to inspire, lead, communicate and develop a broad range of creative and technical talent. 
  • Advertising or creative agency experience at the management level. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to write copy. 
  • Comfortable working within International brand guidelines specified by Japanese corporate parent, while creating designs appropriate for the Americas. 
  • A self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to translate customer insights and market trends into high impact creative strategies and tactics. 
  • Deep skills in “go-to-market” strategy development and execution as well as with integrated communications. 
  • Strong working knowledge of experience design, brand development, interactive commerce, and creative process. 
  • Fluent in digital and wireless technology channels. 
  • Creative thinker with the ability to lead the creative process and transform brand strategy to creative strategy.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications arts or marketing and 10 years experience in marketing communications, at least 5 years in leadership. 
  • Master’s in marketing communications or equivalent degree is a plus. 
  • Experience in healthcare is a plus. 
  • Advertising firm experience, digital is a plus. 
  • Experience with other Microsoft software (particularly Project and SharePoint) is a plus. 
  • Experience with other Adobe and related design software is a plus. 
  • Online portfolio/samples required, showcasing strong infographic, branding, and print layout experience.
