Job Summary:

Responsible for executing email campaigns, overseeing all CNS social media channels, updating the CNS website, and creating digital content such as presentations for meetings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinates all aspects of digital marketing plan execution; working with other departments to meet project deadlines. 
  • Writes effective, mobile-friendly email copy and executes all email marketing campaigns under the direction of the Manager, Marketing & Communications. 
  • Aligns key messages to target audiences. 
  • Maintains up-to-date email distribution lists for each email campaign, monitors subscribe/unsubscribe/spam report trends and makes adjustments to our email marketing campaigns to improve or reverse trends when appropriate. 
  • Oversees the CNS website, working with other departments and volunteers to ensure effective and timely online representation of CNS products and services. 
  • Develops graphics for email, social media, mobile apps, and the website, and coordinates production of digital graphics and signage with outside vendors as appropriate. 
  • Oversees CNS social media presence on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube, developing content and responding to incoming messages and posts. 
  • Produces web, email, and social media statistical reports upon request, and assists with tracking of marketing and recruitment campaign results for future strategic initiatives.
  • Assists manager of Marketing & Communications with coordination and execution of meeting branding, including digital and print signage for all live events 
  • Creates marketing slides/presentations for meetings. 
  • Acts as a Congress Quarterly Staff Editor to convert printed publication into online format
  • Acts as project manager for marketing video production 
  • Writes press releases, blog posts for Neurosurgery Blog, and articles for Congress Quarterly as needed 
  • Organizes marketing call campaigns 
  • Collaborates on market research projects and develops digital surveys to meet research objectives. 
  • Project manager for the Annual Meeting microsite development 
  • Develops layouts and push notifications for meeting mobile apps 
  • In the absence of the receptionist and/or back-up, answers, screens, and transfers incoming phone calls as needed.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Two to five years’ experience, preferably in a medical/physician association. 
  • Degree in communications, web design, digital marketing, or related field. 
  • Proven ability to write effective web and email copy. 
  • Significant experience working with a CMS such as Drupal. 
  • Familiarity with and experience editing HTML. 
  • Experience working with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Basic photo editing skills in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. 
  • Solid understanding of and ability to write for various social media channels. 
  • Ability to coordinate numerous projects and manage deadlines in Basecamp. 
  • Expertise with MailChimp or a similar email marketing service. 
  • Experience using Basecamp or similar project management software. 
  • Experience using HootSuite or similar social media management tool. 
  • Understanding of Google Analytics. Work Environment and

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment with light noise. Work may be frequently interrupted. The employee will spend the majority of the workday sitting, computing, and talking/hearing. May require lifting (boxes) in the 10-25 lb. range requiring the ability to bend at the waist and knee.

Schedule and Travel Requirements:

May require more than 37.5 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position. Ability to travel to meetings at national, regional, or local venues and fulfill evening or weekend obligations. Under 10% air travel required.
