Position Description:

Faith in Place’s Development Director is responsible for managing and growing all revenue streams for Faith in Place. These include donations from foundations, corporations, individuals, and houses of worship. Responsibilities include prospecting, writing, and reporting on all things related to the grant systems, assisting the Executive Director on overall budgeting and planning efforts, coordinating all activities with Board members and volunteers, cultivating individual and faith partner gifts, and managing development support staff.

The Development Director will work closely with the Executive Director to implement Faith in Place’s five-year Strategic Plan that includes forming a full Development Team, adding additional personnel to eventually lead grant, corporation, and large-gift cultivation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership for growing Faith in Place’s Development Team. 
  • Prospect grants to fund Faith in Place’s programs. 
  • Write, manage, and submit grants in a timely manner. 
  • Track and report on grants pending, received, denied, and past funded. 
  • Monitor and work with program staff to make sure grant metrics are achieved. 
  • Collaborate with Executive Director on reports, funding opportunities, and tracking of all grant systems. 
  • Collaborate with staff to develop budgets and budget narratives for grant proposals and program reports. 
  • Oversee fundraising database & gift acknowledgement letters to donors. 
  • Actively participate as the staff liaison with Faith in Place’s Development Committee of the Board of Directors. 
  • Help volunteers arrange logistics for Fundraiser events at the end of the year. 
  • Assist Executive Director as needed in making personal fundraising appeals. 
  • Partner with Communications Director on annual appeals and reports.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for environmental justice issues 
  • Willingness and ability to become well versed in all environmental justice issues and all programs that Faith in Place offers. 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and leadership skills to grow overall Development efforts 
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills – comfort in speaking to large groups, facilitating small group discussions, and excelling at one-on-one interactions 
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, religious and political beliefs 
  • Experience with Moves Management 
  • Strong written communication skills 
  • Strong organizational ability and experience in meeting established goals within tight time frames 
  • Familiarity with standard business computer applications, EveryAction fundraising database experience preferred 
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively leading and collaborating with volunteers with management or supervisory experience 
  • Ability and willingness to motivate individuals to take action regarding Earth care–prior experience in development, organizing, or faith community life is a plus
  • Able to process and exercise discretion when handling confidential information and materials

Salary Range:

$45,000 to $80,000, depending on experience.
