Communications Intern

Job Summary:

Assists manager with placing media buys per the creative deadlines and budget. Research media opportunities in order to ensure the most cost effective and successful placement of advertising which supports revenue growth through high response rates. Responsible for recording all purchase requisitions, purchase orders and invoices in advertising accrual spreadsheet.

Job Duties:

1. Creates media schedules and estimates, generates insertion orders, requests purchase orders, and ensures in-house media buy creative deadlines are met. Generate creative briefs. 
2. Records all purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and invoices in advertising accrual spreadsheet. 
3. Files and maintains all department paperwork, including inspecting and maintaining historic files such as PDFs or screen grabs 
4. Assists Communications Manager with public relations initiatives. Assists with posting press releases to various media sites, arranging ticket giveaways with media, coordinating team member appearances/interviews with media, etc. 
5. Provide on-site assistance with promotional events.

Requirements:

1. Currently enrolled within a post-secondary Marketing, Communications, Journalism or Public Relations program with strong academic performance. 
2. Intermediate-level experience with word-processing, spreadsheets and electronic mail software. 
3. Excellent organizational skills. 
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

$13.88 - $15 / hour based on qualifications.
