The Latino Policy Forum seeks a part-time Communications Associate to assist with day-to-day duties and administrative functioning of the communications department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Communications Manager in support of the agency’s mission; develop, implement and manage broad-based efforts to disseminate the agency’s work to a broader audience. 
  • Media Relations: Conduct regular media monitoring, identifying opportunities to tie agency work and analysis with trending articles or breaking news, and flagging controversial articles for follow-up. Assist with media relations efforts, including pitching to community and Spanish-language media outlets; manage media hits archiving systems.
  • Writing and Editing: Assisting with communications-related writing, editing and proofreading as needed. Editing, formatting and distributing regular e-blast communications and quarterly newsletters. With appropriate language skills, assisting with departmental and organizational written translations.
  • Social/New Media: Manage social media platforms, developing and implementing a sustainable social media strategy for the agency. Updating of website to ensure accuracy and currency of content.
  • Conduct regular media monitoring, identifying opportunities to tie agency work and analysis with trending articles or breaking news, and flagging controversial articles for follow-up.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree required. 
  • At least one year of communications experience or two years of comparable work and/or internship experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and/or managing social media outreach. 
  • Superior English-language writing skills are required; written/oral fluency in Spanish is preferred 
  • Excellent multitasking skills and ability to juggle multiple, often immediate, deadlines. 
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative on projects.

An hourly rate will be offered for a maximum of 15-20 hours/week. Position will be open until filled.
