Established in 1974, Hunger Task Force is Milwaukee's Free & Local food bank and Wisconsin's leading anti-hunger organization. Our food bank provides healthy food absolutely free of charge to a network of 213 food pantries, homeless shelters, meal programs, senior centers and community organizations across Milwaukee and Southeastern Wisconsin, effectively serving more than 50,000 people each month. Hunger Task Force also utilizes outreach, education, organizing and advocacy to end future hunger throughout the state.
Hunger Task Force believes every person has a right to adequate food obtained with dignity. We work to prevent hunger and malnutrition by providing food to people in need today and by promoting social policies to achieve a hunger-free community tomorrow.
The Communications & Creative Marketing Intern will work with the Communications Manager and the Hunger Task Force Development Team to assist in developing written, printed and visual communications throughout the agency. As part of the Development Team, the intern will play an important role in communicating events, promotions and volunteer opportunities with donors, volunteers, partners, sponsors and the public, all with the goal to support hungry families in Milwaukee and end future hunger.
The position will offer specific support in the following areas:
- Written communications and media outreach via press releases, articles, alerts
- Development of key graphic design needs in print and online, including: 1) social media content - post images, cover posters; 2) creative design for lobby board and digital signboard; 3) poster and flyer design for network organizations, programs and promotions; photo and logo inventory organization
- Management of media monitoring and coverage through reports and clips
- Development of key digital initiatives, including written website content and social media campaigns, photos, posts, programs and ideas
Successful candidates will be of at least sophomore status, pursuing a degree in communications, public relations, marketing, graphic design or other related field.
Internship candidates should also exhibit the following qualities:
- Excellent writing skills,
- Ability to take initiative with a "self-starter" attitude
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Passion for helping the people of Milwaukee
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required. Experience in Adobe programs like InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator a plus.
