What is the opportunity?

The Business Communications Manager directs, strategizes, develops and oversees written internal business communications and select client communications for RBC Wealth Management - U.S. business channels. This involves the creation and execution of comprehensive communications strategies to reach a number of different internal and client audiences utilizing a full range of communications methods and technologies. The individual in this role provides direction, counsel, coaching and development opportunities to the business channel communications team.

What will you do?

  • Set strategic direction for internal business and client communications and the business communications team. 
  • Proactively work with organization leaders to understand objectives and identify primary communications needs. 
  • Develop and oversee innovative communications strategies and tactics to drive results in alignment with the overall Wealth Management U.S. strategy. 
  • Help measure and analyze the effectiveness of WM-U.S. communications efforts, and develop plans for ongoing improvement. 
  • Lead the Business Communications team to ensure resources are properly deployed, employees have the tools and training necessary to perform their duties and provide coaching and development opportunities. 
  • Ensure coverage and timely internal and client communications during crisis or emergency situations. 
  • Develop, plan and implement communications plans based on objectives of organization or business area, and review with key business partners and stakeholders. Internal communications include announcements for product, technology, operations, policy and procedures. Client communications include special purpose letters, statement inserts and other select client facing communications. 
  • Ensure consistency in communications by coordinating messages acrossbusiness channels and integrating senior leaders’ key messages.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Four-year degree in English or journalism and 10 years of corporate communications experience with technical internal communications. 
  • Demonstrated management and supervisory skills. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; proven ability to manage writing of others. 
  • Strategic thinker and planner. 
  • Able to see big picture, especially top management's perspective on business issues. 
  • Ability to organize work and establish priorities independently in an environment with multiple demands. 
  • Have a proactive approach and creative problem-solving skills. 
  • High proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and terminology.
