In Tandem Theatre was founded in 1998 and is currently celebrating its 20th Anniversary Season. Committed to creating an eclectic season of comedy, drama, musicals, classics and new works, In Tandem produces four full-length productions a season from October to May. The administrative offices operate year-round. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization, In Tandem also holds a minimum of two fundraising events each year. The theatre's spacious lobby doubles as the 10th Street Gallery and features the work of local visual artists throughout the year. In Tandem resides on the near west side of Milwaukee and maintains a 99-seat studio theatre. When not in production, In Tandem offers rental of the theatre to smaller and emerging arts organizations.

In Tandem Theatre seeks a qualified individual to join the administrative team of an established performing arts organization as an Administrative Associate. A candidate who demonstrates excellent organizational, interpersonal, written/verbal skills, is adept at prioritizing and enjoys a variety of responsibilities will thrive in this position. The Administrative Associate will work closely with the Managing and Artistic Directors/Co-founders to further grow the organization administratively. Candidate will apply their skills and knowledge resulting in the realization of four full-length productions and one to two fundraising events annually by supporting the administrative needs of the Managing and Artistic Directors, as well as the Marketing Manager. This position reports to, and is supported by, the Managing Director.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Grant research and grant writing assistance
  • Phones
  • Open and distribute mail
  • Correspondence
  • Ticket orders by phone and walk up
  • Filing
  • Financial data entry
  • Ticket order preparation
  • Arrange for volunteers for various activities
  • Assistance in gathering auction and raffle items for special events
  • Assist with distribution of promotional materials
  • Assist with special events
  • Preparation of rental agreements
  • Attendance at weekly staff meetings
  • Purchasing and errands (props, office supplies, etc.)
  • Proofreading assistance
  • In-house signage creation
  • Miscellanous office duties
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  1. Ideal candidate will exhibit creativity, enthusiasm and appreciation of theatrical performance as well as visual arts 
  2. A bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration, Communications or related field preferred or equivalent administrative experience 
  3. Extremely proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suites including Publisher and Powerpoint 
  4. Knowledge of Filemaker Pro a plus 
  5. Strong writing, verbal and proofreading skills 
  6. Ability to interact with patrons in person and via phone 
  7. Ability to prioritize while assisting several individuals 
  8. Strong attention to detail 
  9. Some nights and weekends
  • Twenty-five (25) hours per week at $10/hour, year round
  • One paid week off in July (office closed week of July 4th)
  • Some comp time can be accumulated for additional time off
  • Days and hours to be mutually agreed upon at time of hire - Mon-Fri, afternoons preferred
  • Complimentary tickets to all In Tandem productions; comps and discounted tickets to other local arts organizations
  • NOTE: Small, non-shedding dog on-site
