As the SEM Manager at Blend Marketing, you'll ensure that our clients' products, brands, and content are discovered by the right customers through all major search platforms. You'll manage AdWords, Bing and other PPC platforms, potentially including social, and will ensure that all advertising efforts are coordinated, measured and reported on in a way that provides consistency and clarity to our clients and account managers. You will also conduct SEO audits and make recommendations to our design, developer and content teams to improve organic search visibility and outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

  • Help our clients be discovered, so they can reach their business goals. 
  • Provide leadership and quality control for all search advertising efforts, analytics and reporting.
  • Work closely with our executive staff and account managers to set the search marketing strategy for each account and then evaluate whether our integrated efforts (i.e. content/design/development) are working. 
  • Manage ~$1-2 Million/year in Google AdWords accounts in multiple industries, including health services, travel, high tech. This is a hands-on role, with management being inclusive of setting up campaigns, selecting attribution models, working with the content and design teams to get ads produced, managing keywords and bids, monitoring and optimizing campaign performance, analyzing and reporting on results, and providing proposals and recommendations to clients.
  • Manage client campaigns in other platforms including AdRoll and Bing Ads and possibly paid search.
  • Develop and maintain regular reporting structures or dashboards for search marketing analytics. 
  • Develop and implement SEO plans for clients on an ongoing basis Help accounts stay current with best practices for SEO. 
  • Conduct research and provide recommendations for new and niche platforms that may be appropriate for clients. Tools You'll Use a Lot Google Studio, Analytics, AdWords, etc. Microsoft Excel SEOMoz and other SEO tools Social advertising platforms (i.e. PowerEditor) Optimizely

About You:

  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, allowing you to do your own proofing of ad copy and campaign reports. 
  • You're a big picture person who obsesses over word connotations. 
  • You have excellent team skills and can help others who may not work in search (i.e. clients, account managers, designers, and writers) understand the nuances to a search marketing strategy. 
  • You frequently get lost "in-the-zone" managing an account, not noticing anything else around you. 
  • You maybe (just maybe) took some time last holiday to tell your family about weighted averages and multi-channel attributions as well as the latest results of your A/B test and SEO rankings. 
  • You love variety and learning lots about different industries and clients, but you also love going deep and figuring out exactly the right keyword and landing page for your audience 
  • You understand best practices in SEO and CRO and can clearly articulate how they relate to PPC. 
  • You take initiative and figure stuff out on your own. 
  • You can hold your own and give reasoned answers as to why you think a strategy is right or wrong. 
  • You're keeping up with the latest advertising platform developments on a daily or weekly basis.
  • People love working with you because you’re super smart and talented, but you’re also humble and genuinely nice.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have at least 4 years of professional, post-collegiate experience managing PPC accounts and/or overseeing significant SEO/CRO efforts Have passed the following exams: AdWords, AdWords Advanced, Bing, and Google Analytics IQ. 
  • Be highly proficient in Google Analytics, including working with goals, dimensions, eCommerce tracking, etc. Have experience working with developers (or yourself) to ensure that attribution, eCommerce analytics and cross-domain tracking (including call-tracking) are properly configured. 
  • Be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and other analytic software and tools 
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, including the ability to handle statistics carefully and select the most appropriate attribution model for a campaign Have experience managing campaigns in social advertising platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.). 
  • Have experience with Optimizely or other CRO tools The job is located onsite at our office in Madison, Wisconsin.
