We have new digital experience waiting to wow our digital sheet music fans! Musicnotes.com, located in Madison, WI is seeking an App & Web Graphic Designer to shape and implement the digital experience through their innovative approach. Join us as we prepare to unveil a new era for Musicnotes. Our creative team is actively designing and developing a brand new web experience and we’re in search of a designer to join this effort who will bring a new perspective and be part of the design decisions that are made moving forward. This position will focus heavily on App design coupled with a steady workload of web design. A typical day may include both working on long term projects independently or within team.

Your contributions will include:

  • Working closely with the Creative Manager & Marketing Director to bring business ideas to life from mockups or wireframes, designing graphics, and coding HTML, CSS and some JavaScript.
  • Partnering with managers and external business partners to understand customer needs and business requirements.
  • Completing integrations within the scope of industry trends with regard to front-end technologies and techniques.
  • Participating in both the graphic and user experience design of interfaces for our web, mobile and desktop app products.
  • Designing each assignment with the user’s experience in mind.
  • Maintaining Musicnotes’ standards for the highest possible quality, ease of use, and consistent look and feel.
  • Communicating status and risks to managers and partners.
  • Collaborating with partners and engineers to test and refine designs.
  • Providing excellent level of customer service to our internal and external team members.

To be successful in this role, you will need the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Associates Degree in Graphic Design, Web Design or related discipline OR applicable experience.
  • Ability to showcase ideas from sketch to polished presentations of both app and web designs.
  • Understanding of native iOS and Android design
  • Passion for elegant design and simplicity.
  • Ability to problem solve and translate any given user journey into a smooth and intuitive interaction for the end user.
  • Show basic ideas quickly through sketches.
  • Knowledge of front-end web standards technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Knowledge of CSS and JavaScript frameworks such as Bootstrap and/or LESS/SCSS.
  • Expert in design software (Photoshop/Illustrator, Sketch, Adobe XD).
  • Ability to work well in collaborative development environment with engineers.
  • Strong prioritization and interpersonal skills to balance multiple demands.
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and with solid attention to detail.
  • Willingness to quickly learn new apps and software, as needed.
  • Knowledgeable about the latest developments in digital technology and how they are used.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate technical ideas to a non-technical audience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access or similar software.

Preferred, but not required, skills include:

  • Strong interest in music.
  • Some working knowledge of Git or other distributed version control system.
  • Understanding of Agile Scrum methodologies.
  • Some working knowledge of ASP.NET and MVC.
  • Experience with iOS, Mac, Windows, and/or Android native application design.
  • Experience with Invision, Framer JS, or other prototyping tools.
  • Some working knowledge of SEO.
