General Overview:

The Digital Design Specialist translates concepts into effective visual designs for interactive marketing, online campaigns, web and motion-based projects. This position is responsible for design and production of digital media including social, web and presentation graphics.

The self-motivated Digital Design Specialist strives to produce work at the highest quality standards and absorb design knowledge and trends. The Designer must have a strong background in modern digital design technologies and methods, visual design, motion design, and data visualization through infographics.

This position collaborates with UX designers, developers, marketing, and content creators to provide an engaging visual experience across our digital domain.

Specific Duties:

  • Develop creative strategies for projects that align with our brand guidelines or campaigns, and visually communicate project initiatives that inspires user to act 
  • Actively participate with communication teams — design, global communication, marketing, social, marketing, photography, magazine, and web — in the development of digital and presentation media. Project categories include training, marketing, events, finance, and speaker support. Digital formats include: video, digital publications, presentations, social media graphics, infographics, mobile applications, and interactive templates 
  • Will work closely with the print, email, digital marketing and social teams on multiple pieces of the same campaign ensuring cohesion of all campaign and brand elements 
  • Communicate with design manager, business/account executive, and project coordinator 
  • Adhere to timeline and delivery schedule 
  • Design mood boards, storyboards, interactive page layouts, photo retouching and enhancements, animated GIFs under direction of the project design lead 
  • Create files that adhere to design department standards and best practices 
  • Manage assets and folders, following naming system as directed by department 
  • Create final digital files; distribute to assigned teams 
  • Archive project files

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Supports Design team by providing guidance and assistance to Graphic Designers.

Budget Responsibility:

  • Responsible for monitoring design and production costs within approved budget

Internal Contacts:

  • Management teams, editors, marketing, web, photography, language teams, and production staff

External Contacts:

  • Members of Rotary, partner agencies

Equipment:

  • MAC OSX 10.10.5

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, or similar field, or equivalent work experience is required.

Prior Experience:

  • 3+ years of graphic design in digital and social media is required.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to create and develop visual response to communication problems, including understanding of hierarchy, typography, aesthetics, composition, and construction of meaningful images 
  • Ability to solve communication problems including identifying the problem, research, analysis, solution generating, prototyping, user testing, and outcome evaluation 
  • Ability to employ critical thinking and sound judgment when making decisions about visual design 
  • Broad understanding of issues related to the cognitive, social, cultural, technological, and economic contexts for design 
  • Ability to respond to audience contexts recognizing physical, cognitive, cultural, and social human factors that shape design decisions 
  • Solid understanding of user experience and interaction design across digital and social platforms to craft an interaction that will intuitively lead a user to action 
  • Experience with social media, user experience, and knowlege of responsive web design required 
  • Understanding of and ability to develop and manage multiple assets 
  • Strong experience in modern digital graphics, including: infographics, animation, motion graphics, data visualization 
  • Understanding of and ability to use tools and technology including Adobe CC and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel), digital asset management platforms and web graphic authoring tools 
  • Demonstrated skills in After Effects, and Premiere. 
  • Experience with Fuse or Project Felix desired but not required 
  • Expert knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Vimeo, Instagram, and Twitter 
  • Must manage numerous projects and present strong organizational skills, and demonstrate creative thinking and decision making 
  • Possesses attention to detail and exceptional communication skills 
  • Strong eye for color, photography, and typography; experience with multilingual typesetting desired but not required 
  • Ability to work in a global environment with understanding of cultural preservation 
  • Ability to collaborate productively in large interdisciplinary teams 
  • Understanding of ethics in practice
