Job Overview:

The Communications Specialist — Latin America communicates Rotary’s key messages and elevates our brand to Latin American audiences in effective and innovative ways. The specialist works with the rest of the communications team and other staff and organization members to promote Rotary and inform our global audiences about Rotary’s programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate, localize, transcreate, and edit content 
  • Create engaging content for various platforms, such as Rotary’s website and social media 
  • Provide expertise on appropriate communication in the region 
  • Collaborate with other staff in Evanston and at Rotary’s international offices and with external agents, such as regional magazines and Rotary members, in communications efforts to advance Rotary’s brand 
  • Localize and implement regional marketing campaigns to support the priorities of the organization 
  • Suggest engaging and creative ideas for promoting Rotary regionally and globally 
  • Maintain a strong social media presence on the platforms that are most relevant in the region 
  • Act as a brand ambassador, applying the brand voice in all communications 
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key regional media representatives as needed 
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of tailored communications and branding strategies that increase the impact of Rotary’s events, publications, projects, and initiatives 
  • Increase Rotary’s visibility and impact by identifying target audiences for projects, events, and publications 
  • Prepare and facilitate webinars or in-person meetings to train Rotary members and staff in various topics as needed 
  • Fully support a regional approach to communication and contribute actively to expanding Rotary’s reach within Latin America 
  • Help devise qualitative and quantitative measures of the impact of the Global Communications team 
  • Represent the Global Communications team in projects and initiatives as assigned 
  • Collect regional information and stories and present findings and suggestions as needed 
  • Provide constructive feedback on content 
  • Keep abreast of marketing, messaging, and other communications trends in the region 
  • Support and maintain regional style guides, terminology, and memory base 
  • Provide interpretation and record voice-overs as needed and assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Native or near native proficiency in Spanish 
  • Professional proficiency in English 
  • Excellent writing skills 
  • Ability to grasp varied issues 
  • Capacity to work consistently individually and as part of a team 
  • Initiative, creativity, intellectual curiosity, and motivation 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills 
  • Strong commitment to meeting deadlines and achieving results
