The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Pharmacy School is seeking a graphic design student with junior or senior status for a summer internship opportunity. This internship offers a great opportunity for students to enhance their resume and build their portfolio with hands-on experience in print and digital advertising.

This position will utilize creativity and design skills while working on a variety of projects, including but not limited to assisting with the creation and execution of print marketing collateral and visual content for our website and social media. The Communications/Graphic Design Intern will assist with the day-to-day tasks associated with organizational and marketing communications for the MCW Pharmacy School. The MCW Pharmacy School is looking for a student who is an enthusiastic self-starter that is eager and willing to contribute to a developing school. The ideal candidate will be able to take direction as well as offer new ideas.

Primary Functions:

  • Assist in developing and implementing internal, external and/or executive communications projects and deliverables that support the goals and strategic priorities and initiatives of the MCW Pharmacy School.
  • Assist with designing print marketing collateral such as brochures, flyers, banner signs, etc.
  • Create graphics/infographics for presentations, student communication materials, video content, social media and other needs.
  • Interpret brand guidelines and embody a consistent visual brand representation within design
  • Prepare appropriate files for printers and vendors
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited academic institution with a major related to Art, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing or Advertising.
  • Junior or senior standing preferred.
  • Advanced software proficiency required in Adobe CC (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) in a Mac environment is necessary.
  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems and Basic HTML is desired.
  • Knowledge of Prezi, After Effects and/or Video Editing is also desired.

Knowledge-Skills-Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medicine and health system science, economics, mathematics, administration, English language, law, government.
  • Work requires resource management, mathematics, problem solving, coordinating work activities, critical thinking, systems analysis, operations analysis, time management, writing, active listening, and active learning skills.
  • Speech clarity, speech recognition, finger dexterity, and wrist-finger speed while operating computers abilities required.
