Role Purpose:

The Regional Marketing & Communications Manager, manages the regional marketing and communications team and works with the regional Vice President of Strategic Development, Director of Business Development, regional executive team, and entity/service line leads to plan and implement key marketing and communication initiatives in support of the overall system goals. The manager's primary capacity is to develop regional marketing and communication plans, manage regional budgets to ensure alignment with organizational goals, deploy marketing campaigns, and monitor and report the effectiveness of these campaigns.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies key marketing focus areas in relation to market-specific growth and business development strategies for hospitals, medical groups and key service lines
  • Develops and implements regional marketing and communication plans to meet awareness and growth goals
  • Works with regional executive leadership to build alignment and develop market objectives
  • Serves as liaison and primary communication link between system services and regional teams 
  • Contributes to the creation of the system marketing plan, tailoring broad initiatives to market needs 
  • Develops and implements marketing plans for system-wide activities and priorities such as primary care and key service lines 
  • Manages the regional marketing budget, ensuring adherence to budgetary restraints while optimizing impact 
  • Oversees the creation of public-facing materials in conjunction with the Creative and Digital Services 
  • Oversees direct marketing campaigns, leading efforts to generate prospects and deliver on ROI 
  • Maintains integrity and consistency of organization brand standards and corporate voice relating to external promotion 
  • Develops and deploys market research to ensure voice-of-customer in key decisions 
  • Keeps abreast of competitive organizations' informational materials and media promotions 
  • Devises appropriate promotional events in support of key service lines 
  • Provides insight and direction for market advertising and awareness campaigns 
  • Supports business-to-consumer, business-to-employer, and business-to-physician marketing objectives to generate volume for multiple entities within SSM Health 
  • Tracks marketing campaign initiatives for effectiveness and impact, continuously improving processes and output 
  • Supports business-to-consumer, business-to-employer, and business-to-physician marketing objectives to generate volume for multiple entities within SSM Health 
  • Evaluates local sponsorship opportunities that may support regional marketing goals 
  • Partners with system leadership to develop and implement external communication strategies to support the achievement of organizational strategies and goals 
  • Leads the regional internal communications function and supports system-wide communications initiatives. Partners with key areas including Human Resources to communicate changes that impact the entire employee base. 
  • Develops the online and social media presence in coordination with the system digital team 
  • Proactively develop, coordinate and apply crisis communication plans as appropriate to maintain positive positioning in the community 
  • Bears responsibility for the ongoing development, coaching and annual performance assessment for professionals that report to them 
  • Coordinates multiple inputs from key stakeholders and maintains consistent lines of communication to ensure seamless flow of information 
  • Works effectively as a team member in a dynamic executive environment where collegiality and sharing responsibility is required and highly valued within a matrix organization. Promotes teamwork within and across the system by maintaining positive and productive intra-entity and intradepartmental relationships and utilizing effective problem solving skills. 
  • Adheres to the SSM Health Standards of Ethical Conduct, displaying, as applicable, ethical behavior in the areas of business ethics, legal compliance, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, vendor relationships and the reporting of questionable activities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Six to eight years marketing and/or communications experience
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications and/or related field required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in healthcare marketing required
