Designer

An entry-level Designer I requires skills in visual design, but also have familiarity with front end web development. Candidates must possess knowledge of design principles and best practices as well as core competency with HTML and CSS, along with other technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Works with Art Directors and Senior Designers to ensure that various aspects of design and development work meet both LAKANA and clients’ expectations.
• Responsible for delivering and maintaining the quality of design throughout all phases of the project.
• Execute top quality design work in alignment with LAKANA’s standards.
• Create eye-catching advertisements according to client specifications in a timely manner.
• Style responsive HTML content aimed to display on mobile to desktop.

Qualifications & Competencies Required:

• Experience with digital advertising and creating dynamic or animated ads.
• Eager to learn and follow direction or critique.
• Ability to effectively communicate with both internal departments as well as clients.
• Thorough understanding of responsive design and development.
• Ability to successfully translate design to code.
• Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and capabilities of existing web and mobile technologies.
• Solid foundation in typography, layout, and other design principles.
• Good understanding of digital tools, trends, and frameworks.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to function both independently and within a large team environment.
• Excellent debugging and problem solving skills.
• Ability to notice detail in design in order to replicate in HTML.
• Experience optimizing assets for various target environments.
• Manage time efficiently, minimize unnecessary overages, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to estimate time required for future work.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Sass.
• Experience with various front end frameworks such as Foundation and Bootstrap.
• Experience with JavaScript and/or jQuery.
• Experience with source control such as SVN or Git.
• Experience with pure CSS animation.
• Experience working with Tumult Hype or Adobe Edge.
